UW offers both the UW Google and UW Office 365 productivity, collaboration, and email platforms for use by the UW community.
Some departments and business units require their personnel to use either UW Google or UW Office 365 for their email and calendaring. Consult with your local IT support before
you select either UW Google or UW Office 365 as the destination for your UW email forwarding
: As of 8/25/21, the creation of new UW Google accounts for Shared UW NetIDs and the creation of new Google Shared Drives has been disabled. Additional changes to UW Google are likely. For more detail and regular updates, see UW Google Changes Project
UW Google is UW-IT’s implementation of the Google productivity, collaboration, and email platform known as Google Workspace for Education, formerly known as Google G Suite and Google Apps. The UW Google service offering is similar to Google’s consumer apps, but is free of advertising and has greater privacy protections.
UW Office 365
UW Office 365 is UW-IT’s implementation of the Microsoft productivity, collaboration, and email platform known as Microsoft Office 365 Education. The key focus of the UW Office 365 service offering is to provide quick, easy, and user-centered collaboration processes.
