What is changing and why
The Managed Workstation service is shifting the standard antivirus solution from Sophos Intercept X to Microsoft Defender for Endpoints (MDE). MDE protects against software threats like viruses, malware, and spyware to help keep both personal files and University systems safe.

What the migration process looks like
Over the next few weeks the Managed Workstation service will perform an automated uninstall of Sophos from Managed Workstations after hours, this install does require a restart so users should save their work and log off at the end of their working day.
Customer actions needed
- Owners or technical contacts should notify users of this change and the timeframe for the changeover.
Communications Plan
Managed Workstation customer owners and technical contacts will receive information on the scheduled date and time for the Sophos uninstall.
