Access UW Email

Where’s my email?

This 15-second video shows you where to find your email in MyUW.

What email services are available at UW?

Important messages from the University are sent to your UW email address: UWNetID@uw.edu or UWNetID@u.washington.edu (where UWNetID is your actual UW NetID). You can keep your UW email address after you graduate or no longer attend UW.

UW provides two cloud-based email services

UW Exchange Online

UW Exchange Online is the University of Washington’s Microsoft Exchange service providing email, calendar, contacts, and task management. UW Exchange Online is offered as a service of UW Office 365.  To forward your email to UW Exchange Online, go to the UW Email Forwarding page and forward your email to UW Office 365.

UW Gmail

UW Gmail is the University of Washington’s Google service providing email, calendar, contacts, and task management.  UW Gmail is offered as a service of UW Google. Go to the Manage UW Google page to activate the service and set your UW Google password, then forward your email to UW Google.

Note: A login link to the UW email service you are forwarding to appears on MyUW: Home, in the top right corner, with the name Email.

Please note: As of 8/25/21, the creation of new UW Google accounts with Shared UW NetIDs and new Google Shared Drives has been disabled. Additional changes to UW Google are likely. For more detail and regular updates, see UW Google Changes Project.

Which email service should you use?

Your department or business unit may standardize on either UW Exchange Online or UW Gmail.  Contact your local IT support organization before choosing a UW email service.
