Display your pronouns in UW Zoom

Overview

While you have been able to display pronouns in UW Zoom, this has been possible only on a per meeting basis — you had to add pronouns to your meeting name every time you joined a meeting. Now, you can add pronouns in one place and opt to have them appear automatically with your name in every meeting.

When you update or edit your pronouns on the Zoom Profile page, your pronouns are saved as a permanent part of your Zoom profile (unless you edit them in the future). You can also choose whether you would prefer to share your pronouns automatically in every Zoom meeting or manually turn them on in specific meetings.

To update your pronouns in the desktop client or mobile app, you need to be using Zoom version 5.7.0 or higher. Need help updating UW Zoom?

Please note: This feature is provided directly by Zoom. As a result, changes made to pronouns in your Zoom profile will not transfer to other UW-IT systems.

Where are pronouns displayed in Zoom?

When pronouns are visible on your Zoom profile page, they are always visible to your Zoom contacts as part of your Zoom profile card in the Zoom desktop client and mobile app.
