Information technology tools and resources at the UW

Workday and the Integrated Service Center (ISC)
Workday is the centralized, cloud-based software program the UW uses to manage human resources, time-tracking, payroll, and benefits processes across the University, the Medical Centers* and other off-site facilities. The Integrated Service Center (ISC) works closely with UW-HR, Academic Personnel, UW-IT, other central business units, University leadership, departments and HR administrators to support faculty, staff and students with their payroll/HR-impacting information in Workday. Visit the ISC website to access Workday, view instructional videos and user guides, or to contact ISC representatives.
*Please note: The Medical Centers continue to use Kronos for time-tracking and payroll.

To better protect private information, all employees will be required to use Duo, the University’s two-factor authentication (2FA) solution, when they sign in to Workday, not just when accessing personal information. This move, in line with industry-wide best practices, is an important step in ongoing efforts to help employees safeguard their private information. Not enrolled in Duo?

  • Beware of phishing emails asking for your UW NetID and password to gain access to W-2 information

    January 25, 2018

Email symbol with a warning not to open over a laptop

Cyber criminals try to steal an employee’s login credentials so that they can download Wage and Tax Statements (Form W-2). They then can use the W-2 information to electronically file a fraudulent federal income tax return in the employee’s name. By changing the bank account number, the cyber criminals receive the refund. Fortunately, your vigilance and the UW’s two-factor authentication system can play a pivotal role in protecting employee data. Learn more about phishing on the UW Office of the Chief Information Security Officer website.

  • Reminder: Record Martin Luther King Jr. Day Holiday Time Off in Workday

    January 11, 2018

Flag with Martin Luther King as headline

Don’t forget to record Martin Luther King Jr. Day as “Holiday Taken Time Off” in Workday. This applies to most UW employees who accrue time off and who would normally work on the day on which the holiday falls. However, Department of Intercollegiate Athletic coaches and academic personnel (faculty, residents and fellows and other academic staff) do not need to track time off for holidays in Workday. Medical Centers employees report time off for holiday hours in Kronos. To see if this applies to you, review the quick guide and full user guide for time off, and check out related information on the Time Off webpage of the Integrated Service Center website.
