Communities of Practice

Last updated: September 24, 2019

Joining a Community of Practice (CoP) is a great way to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and build your network at the UW. All communities are open to anyone.

Our team facilitates the following communities of practice:

Embedded Architects

The purpose of this CoP is to build a community of technical architects that can share expertise, collaborate in problem solving, and help define and promote the UW’s Enterprise Architecture vision.

  • Visit the Embedded Architects CoP website. Recent meeting topics include:
    • Networking 101 for UW application development teams
    • Public cloud networking challenges and solutions
    • Digital Transformation
    • Machine Learning and its Research Applications
    • Modern Browser Security
    • Workshop: Application Containers with Hands-on Kubernetes
    • Everything as Code: DevOps & Shifting Tool Demands
    • Blockchain Technology & Higher Ed Use Cases
  • To join this community, email east@uw.edu

Business Analysis

This CoP provides regular opportunities to get to know other business analysis practitioners, discuss business analysis methods, develop as a professional, and learn about business analysis work at the UW.

Itana

Itana is a peer group sharing skills, tools and resources for enterprise, business and technology architecture. Itana serves higher education while drawing from other architecture groups (The Open Group, Microsoft, etc.) and is supported by EDUCAUSE and Internet2.
