Background
The UW’s technology recharge fee was developed under UW Technology Working Group oversight throughout 2009-2010 in a two-part process:
- Representatives from across the UW evaluated which core technology services are critical to the UW community and how to fund them.
- WTC, a firm experienced in higher education information technology costing, conducted an in-depth analysis and peer review of current costs and cost recovery methods.
With service priorities, costs, and review of various methodologies for technology funding models in hand, the Working Group provided oversight for the development of a new rate structure and proposed a recharge fee.
