Program Details

The Adobe Creative Cloud Suite is available as an annual subscription. The license period runs from July 1, 2021, through June 30, 2022.

  • Adobe subscriptions are NOT prorated.
  • There are no refunds, however, we can transfer a license to another user upon request.

The Named user license is assigned to an individual and is only available to that user, and it may be installed on up to two devices.

  • Named user licenses cannot be assigned to a shared UW NetID. Adobe licensing policy prohibits it.
  • The Named user license holder will need to log into Adobe applications using their UW NetID credentials.

Shared Device licenses (SDL) are available for a lab or other shared computer environment and can be installed only on a single device where the application(s) is/are available to all users of that device. If you need Adobe SDL, you must become a “profile administrator” for your set of devices and you will create installation packages for your group in the Adobe Admin Console. UW-IT Software Licensing Team will work with you on provisioning.

Send an email with the subject line “Adobe Shared Device License Admin request” to UW-IT Software Licensing Team will contact you with all the details about the Adobe Enterprise Admin Console.

Note: Adobe “Lightroom” does not work with the Shared Device License.  Adobe “Lightroom Classic” does.

  • Once activated, the shared device license cannot be used on a different computer. Send an email with the subject “Adobe Device license re-assign” to Software Licensing Team can help to re-assign the license to a different device.
  • All devices with Adobe SDL that you have purchased and activated must appear in your Adobe Admin Console profile.
  • Shared Device licenses are NOT available for individual applications.

Adobe Shared Device License – user experience.

  • A user with an existing Adobe named user license purchased via UW IT should use an “Enterprise ID”(Company or School) option to sign-in on the device with Adobe Shared Device License.
  • If you do not have Adobe “named user” license purchased via UW IT, you must sign in with “Adobe ID”. A free Adobe ID is issued by Adobe and is not related to the University of Washington. It is your personal account. Do NOT use UW NetID and/or UW email address to create your personal Adobe ID.  Adobe ID can be self-provisioned.

If you are looking for the non-subscription (perpetual) license of Adobe Acrobat Pro, you can purchase it from CDW-G through UW E-Procurement / Ariba.  Use Item # 6098625.

Perpetual licenses for other products are also available there.

Renew License

The end-user does not need to do anything to renew the license.

UW IT Software Licensing Team maintains a multi-year Enterprise Contract with Adobe. While this contract is in place, the individual and SDL (Shared Device License) will continue to operate without interruption. Do not submit a new purchase request for an existing license as it will generate a duplicate bill.

All existing license subscriptions will be automatically renewed on an annual basis unless you have elected to opt-out of the renewal. UW IT must receive the opt-out request before June 26th
