  2. SAS license cannot be assigned to a shared UW NetID. Only personal NetID is eligible.
  3. SAS is available through an annual subscription, with the license period running from July 1 through June 30.
  4. During the current license period, an individual license can be transferred to a different person. Send an email to to request the transfer.
  5. Once purchased, the license subscription is renewed automatically on an annual basis unless you opt out of the automated renewal. UW IT must receive the opt-out request no later than June 26th.
  6. UW IT will automatically bill for the SAS license in the next license cycle. Do NOT submit a new purchase request for the existing SAS license. It will result in double billing.
  7. To renew the license for the version of SAS or JMP that you already have installed on your computer replace SID (license) file with the one published for all current SAS/JMP license holders on this page  Renewal instruction is published on that page as well.   * Only users with paid license subscriptions can access that page.

The SAS license purchased via UW IT Software Licensing service may be used for the purpose of (i) in the case of employees (faculty and academic staff), performing software administration, teaching, and noncommercial, academic research in their ordinary course as UW employees; and (ii) in the case of enrolled students, meeting classroom requirements of courses and study offered by the UW. Work done funded under a grant would usually be considered “academic” in nature, while work funded by a contract is likely “commercial” and, therefore, not covered under the license purchased by the UW IT. Any other use is expressly prohibited.

NOTE!  TROUBLE OPENING DOWNLOADED FILES?  Some people who have purchased SAS have had difficulties expanding large zip files.  It appears that the native Windows file compression software does not always handle large compressed files well.  If that happens we recommend using a 3rd party compression program such as 7-Zip, which has proven to work well.
