DMS (DocFinity) Version 12.3 Upgrade PROD Released on June 21, 2023

Document Management System (DMS) released DocFinity v12.3 upgrade on June 21, 2023.

New Features:

  • DocFinity has added a new Document Viewer in addition to the existing Markup Viewer
    • The new Document Viewer is accessible via the “Document View” button or by changing default viewer in Preferences > Document View
    • Document Viewer is not a default and user needs to selected that option.
    • The new Document Viewer displays now supports all file types that can be rendered natively by the web browser (PDF, text, audio files, video files and more).
    • Additional differences between Document Viewer and Markup Viewer
      • PDFs larger than 30 MB will be displayed within Document Viewer without having to download the file
      • The entire PDF will be displayed, allowing you to scroll through pages rather than clicking page by page
      • Document loading time has been significantly improved in the majority of cases
    • Note: The new Document Viewer is not currently supported in the Safari web browser
  • A new Contact Support option has been added within the Help drop-down menu
    • Use this feature to submit UW Connect tickets for support
  • DocFinity now supports displaying the file’s MD5 Checksum as a metadata field

Notable Corrections

  • An issue that caused an error message to display when re-indexing a document has been resolved.  
    • An error would display if a user selected “Re-index”, but did not make any changes to the panel.  This is resolved.
  • An issue that prevented documents from displaying when the filename contained unsupported characters has been resolved.
    • Users will no longer be able to add files that contain unsupported characters in the document name.
