The Access and Use Agreement for UW Data and Information Systems (‘Agreement’) helps raise employees’ awareness of their privacy and information security responsibilities, as articulated in University policies. This is an important part of promoting privacy and information security best practices that help protect University data and systems.

How do I accept the Agreement?

Users with a personal (not shared) UW NetID

Users can review and accept the Access and Use Agreement webpage.

Users of applications that are integrated with the Access and Use Agreement:

Users will automatically be prompted to review and accept the agreement when they log into an integrated application. Such users may also see occasional reminders related to the Agreement

Users are expected to accept the Agreement once. Under certain circumstances (e.g., if the language of the Agreement changes significantly) they will be asked to accept it again.

2010 – The Agreement was initially implemented to increase employees’ awareness of their information security and privacy responsibilities.

2012 – A minor change was introduced in the Agreement wording.

2013 – The Agreement was updated to reflect changes in UW policies.

2020 – The Agreement will be updated winter quarter 2020 to be more user-friendly in order to increase employees’ awareness of their privacy and information security responsibilities, as articulated in University policies.

For some information systems such as the “green screen” mainframe applications (e.g. FAS, PAS, etc.), such integration is not practical. As of early 2021* the following applications are utilizing the agreement:

  • EARS
  • EDW
  • eFECS
  • Event Registration
  • MyFD
  • MyGrad
  • Purchasing Reporting Services

* Additional applications and workflows continue to be integrated with the Access and Use Agreement. This is not an exhaustive list of systems and processes that rely upon it.
