Enterprise Document Management

Service Description

The Enterprise Document Management service provides a platform that enables UW departments to:

  • Manage electronic content:  Securely digitize, store, retrieve, and view electronic content.
  • Standardize metadata: Tag documents with consistent, searchable metadata to retrieve documents. Where appropriate, add custom metadata to further improve searching.
  • Simplify Records Management processes: Automatically comply UW Records Management policies by setting retention periods on documents. Easily search, identify, and hold records responsive to public records requests, litigation, and audit.
  • Scan paper documents:  Quickly digitize and store paper documents with high volume scanning.

Service Options

  • Develop and manage custom workflows: Convert complex, paper-based business workflows into digitally-managed workflows. Additional APIs allow departments to integrate these workflows with local applications.
  • Retain electronically signed documents: Optional  integration between the eSignatures service (powered by DocuSign) and the Enterprise Document Management service enables the seamless storage, retrieval and viewing of electronically signed documents.

Eligibility

Enterprise Document Management is available to University administrative and academic units.
