Azure ExpressRoute

Service Description

ExpressRoute is an Azure network service that lets you create private connections between Microsoft data centers and UW on-premises data centers, networks and infrastructure. ExpressRoute essentially extends the UW network over a private connection provided by the Pacific Northwest Gigapop (PNWGP) into the Azure cloud.

As compared to the Azure VPN service, ExpressRoute connections bypass the public Internet utilizing dedicated connectivity and generally offer more reliability, more speed options and lower latency.

Note: The ExpressRoute service is currently in preview and is not generally available as of 8/1/2019.
