New UW-led project focuses on increasing diversity in STEM fields

Attendees talking together at ERC-INCLUDES Capacity Building Institute

The UW recently hosted a national workshop on strategies to recruit, retain and engage underrepresented groups in STEM fields, as part of a newly funded project to improve diversity in National Science Foundation-funded programs around the country. The project, led by UW’s Disabilities, Opportunities, Internetworking and Technology (DO-IT) Center, in collaboration with the UW’s Engineering Research Center, the Center for Neurotechnology, is developing an online knowledge base, a community of practice for stakeholders, and other products. The project seeks to build a lasting foundation for future work.
