Students will have expanded access to the Hyak supercomputer’s massive-scale computing capabilities for data-driven scientific research and academic projects, thanks to $433 thousand in funding awarded by the Student Technology Fee (STF). The funding purchased additional Hyak computer nodes for the High Performance Computing (HPC) Club, a community of approximately 350 UW graduates and undergraduates who share an interest in high performance and distributed computing methods, which are essential to research and career advancement in a variety of fields. Since 2015, STF support for student access to Hyak has provided the computational resources for over 31 academic papers.
