Information technology tools and resources at the UW
Service notice: All Catalyst Web Tools–except WebQ Survey and GradeBook–will be retired. View timeline and details.
An instructor or colleague can put information and materials for you to use, such as files and Catalyst tools, into a CommonView workspace. You can access a CommonView workspace in two ways: through your Catalyst tools account page, or by visiting the workspace URL directly.
To access a workspace though your Catalyst tools account, the workspace must first be accepted through the notification bubble located at the top of the page.
Access a CommonView workspace:
- On the Catalyst account page, find the notification bubble at the top of the page. Click # new tools to locate the workspace you were made the participant of. Once you select the workspace, choose Add to Your Tools (Starred) via the “Take action on the selected tools” drop down menu. Click Done.
- The workspace should now be added to your Catalyst account page. You can find the workspace through the Starred tab. Click on the name of the workspace to access it.
- From the workspace, you can access the information, files, and Catalyst tools the workspace owner has made available. Use the links at the left to navigate to the views available in the workspace.
Tip: The workspace owner can also provide you with a URL in an email message, or as a link on another Web site. If it is a class workspace, you may be able to find the URL on your syllabus, or access the workspace through the MyUW class channel course Web site link.
