During spring and summer 2020, UW-IT, in partnership with the College of Education, the Office of Educational Assessment, the UW Graduate & Professional Student Senate (GPSS), and the Associated Students of UW (ASUW) examined data that these groups had collected to learn how we might better support teaching and learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We are pleased to share the findings from these studies that provide specific suggestions about what instructors can do to help students when learning remotely, such as:
- The importance of clear and logical course organization
- Frequent communication from instructors
- Availability of recorded lectures
- Opportunities for students to collaborate with peers
These findings were recently presented and discussed in a Zoom webinar: Empathy, Engagement, and Organization: Findings on UW Students’ Experience of Remote Instruction.
