Homer security change requires some Windows users to update SSH clients by Oct. 31
Outdated security methods leave UW users and information vulnerable to attack, so Homer (a UW-IT Linux server) will undergo a security update on October 31. After that, connections that do not use the modern “SSH version 2” security protocol will not be allowed. UW-IT is notifying affected users (that can be identified) that they need to change to software that meets the security requirements, recommending they download and install PuTTY on Windows. Macintosh users are not affected. Contact your local computing support group or email email@example.com for help.
