UW Zoom cloud recording storage

Last updated: May 18, 2023

UW Zoom allows meeting hosts to record meetings in the cloud. UW Zoom cloud recordings can be shared with several options for security.

Recordings stored in the Zoom cloud will be deleted automatically 120 days after the meeting is recorded. Deleted recordings are moved to Zoom Trash, where they are stored for 30 days before they are permanently deleted. Recordings can be retrieved from the trash before they are permanently deleted. Learn how to retrieve recordings in the trash.

To preserve Zoom cloud recordings beyond 120 days, download the cloud recording, then upload the video file(s) to an alternative video host service. UW-IT offers services such as Panopto for course recordings and Google Drive or OneDrive for Business to support the storage of video recording files.
