Migrate UW Exchange Online (UW Office 365) email messages to Outlook.com

When you migrate email messages from a UW Exchange Online (UW Office 365) account to an Outlook.com account, you can view the email messages from the UW Exchange Online (UW Office 365) account from within the Outlook.com account. The UW Exchange Online (UW Office 365) account messages are located in a folder named after the UW email address in the Outlook.com Folders pane.

Migrate UW Exchange Online (UW Office 365) messages to an Outlook.com account

  1. Click here to sign in to Outlook.com with the Outlook.com account you’ve created or create a new Outlook.com account.
  2. On the right side of the navigation bar at the top of the page, click the gear icon (Quick settings), then click View all Outlook settings at the bottom of the the list, then click Sync email.
  3. Under Add a connected account, click Other email accounts.
  4. Enter a Display name, e.g. your First and Last name.
  5. Enter your UW email address, UW NetID password, check the box next to Manually configure account settings (POP, IMAP, or send-only account), and click OK.
  6. Under User name, enter your UW email address.  Under Incoming (IMAP) server enter outlook.office365.com.
  7. Select the radio button next to Send email using the Outlook.com server (recipient may see your Outlook.com address) and click OK.
  8. You can change your default “From” email address by changing the dropdown selection under Set default From address and clicking Save in the upper right corner.
  9. Click the blue X in the upper right corner to return to your Outlook.com Inbox and then on your keyboard (PC) hit F5 or Mac (command + r) to refresh your Inbox.
  10. To view your migrated UW Exchange Online (UW Office 365) email messages, click the UWNetID@uw.edu folder on the left side of the page in the Folders pane.
