Access and sync G Suite Drive files

Google has launched two different options for working with the resources you store on UW G Suite Drive and keeping them in sync on all your devices: Drive File Stream and Backup and Sync. These options will replace the previous sync application, confusingly also known as Drive.

As of December 11, 2017, Google will no longer support the old sync application. No worries, though! You do not need to do anything to respond to this change. Your UW G Suite Drive files will not be deleted and the only thing changing is the way you access, sync, or back them up. If you only used UW G Suite Drive via the web, you will see no change at all.

Drive File Stream

Drive File Stream supports the new Team Drives. You access Drive File Stream as you would any local or network drive.

Backup and Sync

Backup and Sync syncs Google Drive with local folders and stores all your documents locally. You access it as you would a folder on your hard drive.

Compare the two options to determine which best meets your needs.
