Data Custodians help define, implement, and enforce data management policies and procedures within their specific Subject Area and Business Domains, as defined in the UW Data Map. The following links provide information about Data Custodians and their responsibilities.
- Data Security – An overview of the current security model for data stored in the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW).
- Security Metadata Administration Tool (SMAT) User Guide – Provides instructions on creating, approving, and publishing security definitions.
The SMAT is a web-based front end to the Data Access Control (DAC) mechanism. This tool is used to full access to individual EDW tables, or restrict access by role at the by column and/or row level, based on the Security Access and Roles Matrix, developed by the Data Management Committee (DMC).
