Managed Workstation Services

The Managed Workstation service provides networked personal computers that are centrally managed and supported by UW Information Technology.  Basic elements include:

  • Windows Managed Workstation, with option for adhoc Mac assistance
  • Basic help desk support
  • Standard operating system image and over the network delivery mechanism
  • Operating system updates
  • Anti-virus installation and maintenance
  • Proactive security mitigations for high risk vulnerabilities
  • Re-imaging for compromised workstations
  • Software delivery to Windows workstations via a centralized service, including Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Software packaging for any software that can be released to anyone at the UW
  • Virtual Private Network (VPN) allows secure connections to campus resources

Optional elements include:

  • Shared and private file space managed through UW Groups, with self-service file restores
  • Managed Workstation Consulting: IT assistance beyond basic support
  • Managed Workstation Training Room
