Add General Content
WebQ allows you to add general content at any place in a survey or quiz, to create an introduction to your survey, provide instructions, include images for a set of questions, and create section dividers.
For general content and question content, WebQ lets you create and format text with a “what you see is what you get” (WYSIWYG) rich text editor. Just enter your text, and use the toolbar to format text and insert links and images, much as you would in word processing software. Note: The text editor is only available when using the Mozilla Firefox browser, or Internet Explorer on a PC.
Add General Content to Your Survey or Quiz
You can use the “general content” item to add text, section dividers, instructions, or images to your survey or quiz. The general content item has a “what you see is what you get” text editor that allows you to quickly and easily format text and images without knowing HTML.
Follow these steps to add general content to your survey or quiz:
- On the survey or quiz build page, select General content from the “Add item” menu.
- If you have already added questions to your survey, select the position at which you want to add the content, and then click Go. You will move to the “Add General Content” page.
- Enter or copy and paste text into the text area. Use the text editor toolbar to format text, and add links or images. See the detailed instructions below about using the text editor.
Enter and Format Text
To create text content or questions, you can type directly into the text editor, or copy and paste text from word processing or other documents.
Tip: In the content section, the Enter or Return key will create a double-space between lines. For a single line space, hold down the Shift key and then press Enter or Return.
To format your text, click and drag your mouse to highlight the text you wish to format and then click the appropriate button in the toolbar to apply formatting, such as bold, italics, or underlining. You can also change the font color, align the text, and insert a bulleted or numbered list with the toolbar.
View additional instructions for the text editor, including how to paste content from Word, insert links and images, and view the HTML source code.
