Exchange Online

Exchange Online, a component of Office 365, provides email, calendar, contacts, and task management. For more information on Exchange features, see the Microsoft article Exchange Top Features.

Get started with Exchange Online

Your Exchange Online email address, user name, and password

The format of your user name and email address is: (where your-UWNetID is replaced with your own personal UW NetID) 

Your password is the one associated with your UW NetID.

Forward your email to Exchange Online

Email will not be delivered to your Exchange Online mailbox automatically.  If you’d like to use Exchange Online to read your UW email, you’ll need to point your email forwarding to your Exchange Online mailbox using these instructions.

  1. Open the page Change UW Email forwarding.
  2. Select the button to the left of Forward to UW Office 365.
    Note: If you don’t see Forward to UW Office 365, select Forward to and then in the accompanying text box, enter where NetID is your UW NetID.
  3. Click OK.

Log in using OWA

owa-logo-newOutlook Web App (OWA) allows you to log in to Exchange Online using only a Web browser. No other client software is needed. This is the quickest and easiest method for connecting to Exchange Online.

Set up an email client for Exchange Online


Client software programs give you more control and better integration with other Windows applications. Some clients provide more features than Outlook Web App.

Expiration of Exchange Online

Exchange Online is only available to current Staff, Faculty and students. Alumni are not eligible for Exchange Online. If you leave the UW, access may expire at any time.
